Upgrade, downgrade, and manage your Bklit subscription

Updating Billing

This guide covers managing your Bklit subscription and billing.

Accessing Billing Settings

  1. Go to your workspace dashboard
  2. Click "Settings" in the sidebar
  3. Click "Billing"

Or navigate directly to:

/{organizationId}/settings/billing

Upgrading to Pro

Step 1: Navigate to Billing

Go to workspace settings → Billing

Step 2: Click Upgrade

Click the "Upgrade to Pro" button

Step 3: Complete Checkout

You'll be redirected to Polar checkout:

  1. Review plan details
  2. Enter payment information
  3. Complete purchase

Step 4: Confirmation

After successful checkout:

  • Plan updates immediately
  • Pro features are enabled
  • Billing portal access is available

Managing Subscription

Access Billing Portal

  1. Go to Billing settings
  2. Click "Manage Subscription"
  3. Opens Polar billing portal

Available Actions

In the billing portal, you can:

  • Update payment method
  • View invoices
  • Download receipts
  • Change billing period
  • Cancel subscription

Downgrading to Free

Step 1: Cancel Subscription

  1. Go to Billing settings
  2. Click "Manage Subscription"
  3. Cancel subscription in Polar portal

Step 2: Plan Reverts

  • Subscription remains active until end of period
  • Plan reverts to Free at period end
  • Pro features disabled after period ends

Step 3: Data Retention

  • All data is retained
  • Access to historical data remains
  • New limits apply (projects, events, etc.)

Payment Methods

Adding Payment Method

  1. Go to Billing portal
  2. Click "Payment Methods"
  3. Add credit card or other method
  4. Set as default

Updating Payment Method

  1. Go to Billing portal
  2. Click "Payment Methods"
  3. Update existing method
  4. Save changes

Invoices and Receipts

Viewing Invoices

  1. Go to Billing portal
  2. Click "Invoices"
  3. View all past invoices
  4. Download PDF

Receipts

Receipts are automatically emailed after each payment.

Subscription Status

Active

  • Subscription is active
  • Pro features available
  • Billing continues automatically

Canceled

  • Subscription canceled
  • Access until end of period
  • Reverts to Free after period

Past Due

  • Payment failed
  • Pro features may be limited
  • Update payment method to restore

Billing Period

Monthly

  • Billed monthly
  • Recurring charge each month
  • Cancel anytime

Yearly

  • Billed annually
  • Often includes discount
  • Cancel anytime (prorated refund)

Troubleshooting

Payment Failed

  1. Check payment method is valid
  2. Update payment method if needed
  3. Contact support if issue persists

Subscription Not Updating

  1. Check webhook is configured
  2. Verify Polar webhook secret
  3. Check webhook logs
  4. Contact support if needed

Wrong Plan

  1. Verify subscription in Polar
  2. Check webhook received events
  3. Refresh dashboard
  4. Contact support if needed
